In his resignation letter dated Jan. 25, 2010, former Jordan police Sgt. Stolee had kind words for Jordan and Police Chief Bob Malz.
Stolee wrote:
“Dear Chief Malz,
“I am writing to you today to officially tender my resignation from the Jordan Police Department, effective Feb. 10, 2010.
“I never thought I would ever leave such a great place as the city of Jordan and the Jordan Police Department. When the opportunity arose to become the chief of police for the city of Belle Plaine, which as you know is a challenge that I feel I am ready for, I simply had to take advantage of it.
“I cannot say enough wonderful things about the city of Jordan and the Jordan Police Department and about the wonderful people I’ve met and worked with in my seven years, eight months of service. I especially want to thank you for showing me, through your hard work, dedication, and knowledge, what a difference a chief of police like you can make for a community. I have not worked for a chief that dedicates himself to his job and puts in the countless hours that you put in to make Jordan a safe place to live. The city of Jordan is lucky to have an asset, such as you as their chief of police. Your leadership has taken us all to new levels, and I have appreciated all your personal and professional advice over the years. I know that we will stay in touch as I begin this new chapter in my life.
“If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks again for everything.
“Sincerely, Thomas N. Stolee.”
