Get out your shears.

After last week directing city staff to prepare a budget that cuts back $141,500 on general fund spending while increasing debt levy spending $510,600, the Jordan City Council is set to face a public hearing on its proposed 14 percent increase in the amount of revenue garnered from taxpayers.

If a $225,000 budget cut proposed by the council passes next month, the city will have trimmed its budget and tax levy each to about $3.1 million.

A Truth in Taxation public hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, during a regular city council meeting at the Jordan Government Center, 210 E. First St. downtown.
