Holy Family tops Hubmen

Holy Family scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to erase a 12-point Jordan lead and win 40-33 on Friday night.

The win improves the Fire record to 5-1 on the season while the loss drops Jordan to 4-2.

Jordan took a 33-21 at 8:25 of the third quarter after Kyle Coglitore scored on a 4-yard run to complete a nine play drive for the Hubmen.

After the teams exchanged punts, Holy Family went on a 14-play driving in just over five minutes to cut the lead to 33-28 after quarterback Zackk Rockers scored on a 16-yard touchdown run. On the drive, Holy Family converted third down plays for first downs.

Holy Family than forced a three and out from the Hubmen and took a 34-33 lead with 8:03 left in the game when Brenden Hamrick scored from a yard out.

Jordan was driving for the go ahead score when Jared Wimmer intercepted a pass from quarterback Todd Garnhardt on a fourth and two to give Holy Family the ball.

Holy Family quickly drove the ball down field and scored with 2:20 left to extend their lead to 40-33.

Jordan had one last chance and appeared to get the ball deep into Holy Family territory on a long pass reception by James Lucas but Jordan was flagged for an illegal man down field.

Two plays later Holy Family picked off another pass to ice the game.

The game started with Jordan taking a 6-0 lead on 13-yard touchdown run by Josh Malz.

Holy Family quickly took the lead at 7-6 when Colin King returned the kick 79 yards for a touchdown.

Jordan answered back with a 4-yard touchdown run by Danny Lewis to take a 12-7 lead.

Again, Holy Family answered quickly as John Westerhaus broke lose for a 68-yard touchdown run on the very first play after Jordan's touchdown to take a 14-12 lead.

The Hubmen answered right back with Lewis' second touchdown of the game to grab a 19-14.

Holy Family regained the lead on their next drive on a 17-yard run by Jay Roane.

As the clock struck zero to end the half, Lewis scored again from a yard out to give Jordan the 26-21 halftime lead.
