Would your kids respond by saying “sweet!” to an offer to give up some Halloween candy for cold cash — and for a good cause or two? (Come to think of it, would their parents give up the chance to “check out” the candy?)
St. Francis Regional Medical Center and Park Dental-Shakopee are sponsoring a Halloween candy buy-back event on Monday, Nov. 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the main entrance lobby at St. Francis. Children will be paid $1 per pound of candy by St. Francis and Park Dental and for every pound of candy bought back, St. Francis will donate $2 to the new Jordan Area Food Shelf, which opened Oct. 10.
The candy must be unopened as it will be sent to troops overseas. Children are encouraged to write notes to the troops to accompany the candy.
St. Francis and Park Dental say they want to encourage healthy food choices for kids.
