FUND-RAISERS
Local fashion show is Nov. 21
The Jordaness Lions will hold their 20th annual holiday fashion show beginning with a social hour at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the O.K. Corral Restaurant, Saloon, and event center, 20201 Johnson Memorial Drive in St. Lawrence Township.
A luncheon and the show begin at noon.
This year the show is going green by featuring recycled outfits.
Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased from Jordaness Lions members and at The Vinery Floral & Gifts and Iris Valley General Store. Seats are limited. Proceeds benefit the Lions Eye Bank and other community projects.

Jordan KCs Host Breakfast

The Jordan Knights of Columbus will hold a pancake-sausage breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, Nov. 22, in Louis Hall at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 210 Broadway St. in Jordan. 
There will be pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, fruit, an assortment of syrups, and beverages. 
There will be a free-will offering at the breakfast. Proceeds will be used for local community projects.

Ecumenical service is at St. John’s
Members from Jordan area churches are invited to the annual ecumenical worship service. The service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 210 Broadway St. N. in Jordan.
Attendees gather together to share that for which they have to be thankful. Treats will be shared following the service. This year’s offering collection will go to the Jordan Area Food Shelf and supplemented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Catholic Aid.

MEETINGS
Park district board meets
The Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.
The meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Park District Administrative Center, 3000 Xenium Lane North in Plymouth.
There is no charge to attend this meeting.
Three Rivers Park District, which includes Spring Lake Regional Park, is governed by an independent, seven-member board of commissioners charged with the responsibility of establishing policy for the Park District and levying the tax to fund operations. Five members of the Board are elected from districts in suburban Hennepin County, and two are appointed by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners.

Edward Jones hosts coffee hour
The Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce Coffee Hour will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 20 at Edward Jones, 700 Seville Drive Suite 201 in Jordan.

PETCO hosts pet adoption

Volunteers from the Carver Scott Humane Society will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at PETCO, 8020 Glen Lane in Eden Prairie. CSHS is without its own building, and all pets are housed in foster care. 
 All cats and dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed or neutered. Adoption fees begin at $155 for cats and $185 for dogs.

City holds park presentation
The Jordan Parks and Recreation Commission is embarking on the development of a master park plan.
As an initial step in the process, the park board has invited a panel of regional park and recreation officials to share their plans and discuss how we can mutually support each others’ efforts. 
The city invites the public to attend a regional park, trail, and recreation presentation at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at the city council chamber, 210 E. First St. in Jordan.
Guest speakers include: Mark Themig, park program manager for Scott County; Jeanne Holler, deputy refuse manager for the  U.S. Fish and Wildlife Servce; and Tamara Simonich, operations supervisor of the Minnesota Valley Sate Park.
There is no charge to attend this meeting.

Library hosts storytime
The Jordan library will hold a family storytime at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 24 in the library, 230 S. Broadway St.
“Horses” will be the theme of the books, songs, and action rhymes at this week’s free storytime.

Fair board meets
Regular monthly meetings of the Scott County Fair Board are held at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Scott County Extension and Conservation Center at the Scott County Fairgrounds, 7151 190th St. W. in St. Lawrence Township.
The next meeting will be Nov. 24.
Anyone desiring to be included on the agenda of any meeting must make his or her request known a minimum of 10 days prior to the meeting by contacting Jim Luce at 952-492-2436.
There is no charge to attend this meeting.

Grief support group holds service

The Suicide Grief Support Group will hold a memorial prayer service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Queen of Peace Hospital, 301 Second St. in New Prague.
The service will held in the Jameen Mape Conference Room on the lower level.
Family, friends and anyone who has been affected by a suicide death is welcome.
Please bring a photo of your loved one.  There is no charge to attend this service, and no registration is needed.

CLASSES
Build a gingerbread house Saturday
The Scott County Historical Society will hold a gingerbread house workshop at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the historical society, 235 Fuller St. S. in Shakopee.
Participants will get to build a gingerbread house around a cardboard frame and decorate it with treats.
This event is not recommended for young children. A $5 charge covers materials.
