Scott County Public Health will hold a flu vaccination
clinic on Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Workforce Center at 792 Canterbury
Road S. in Shakopee.
“It is not too late to
get a flu shot in November, December or even January,” said Kristen Ehresmann,
immunizations section manager for the Minnesota Department of Health.
Influenza vaccinations can benefit anyone wanting to avoid
illness but are recommended for people 50 years of age and older, people of any
age with chronic medical conditions, women who will be pregnant during
influenza season, people living with or caring for those at high risk for
complications from influenza, and healthcare workers.
The vaccination costs $25 and is free to those with Medicare Part
B. Residents are reminded to bring their Medicare cards along to the clinic.
Also, wearing short sleeves makes it easier to get the vaccination. Also
available is FluMist, the nasal spray, for healthy individuals, ages 2 to 49,
for $35.
The clinic will not be able to accept private insurance.
Receipts will be provided so they can be submitted to insurance companies for
reimbursement.
