Congratulations,to all the teachers. Ms McNamara was both of my sons' teachers. I actually requested her when my youngest-Patrick(Cobb) went to school. She always has time for all her students both present and past.

How sad that someone would steal and torture an animal! Why would he think it was okay to kill someone's pet? Pets are members of the family.

I hope this man is punished severely.

My heart goes out to the family that lost their pet.

I just saw some students using their Waves downtown going past the office of the Independent. I had a chance to try them out when the students were using them at school the other day, and it was a lot of fun. I was awful at it, though.

I’m not always a fan of team-building games, but these actually seem pretty cool. And that obstacle course looks like it would be a lot of fun.

The school board will meet to discuss the proposed cuts at 7:30 p.m. April 28, not April 21 as originally reported in this story and as printed in Thursday’s paper. A correction has been posted here: http://www.jordannews.com/news/corrections/correction-school-board-budge....

There is no legitimate

There is no legitimate controversy. The school board mandated that cuts HAD to be made due to decreased state funding. Mr. Nelson was the administrator with the responsiblity of recommending which cuts would result in the least detriment to the school district. There is always somebody who is unhappy when cuts are made, and these few have decided to blame Mr. Nelson, instead of the board, for their unhappiness. He did the job he was paid to do, and he did it very well. If you have questions about PCM, go to the source and ask Mr. Nelson. Its hard to know the truth of a situation, and words like "controversy" come into play, when one of the local newspapers is owned by two of the "unhappy" parents.

The Jordan School District should be thrilled with their new superintendent. I, as a PCM parent, am very sorry to see him leave. Mr. Nelson has done a wonderul job at PCM and I wish him continued success in the Jordan district!!!

Cole competes in the creative expression category, Meyer in the original oratory category, and LaMoore in the great speeches category. Meyer and LaMoore spoke during last night’s school board meeting, and they did a great job.

The tournament is Friday in South Saint Paul.

This is terrific! It is a real big deal to go to State Speech - just as big a deal as state volleyball or basketball, just a different kind of competition. These students really have to excel in order to compete at this elite level. In what categories are they competing? It would be fun to know this because Speech has about 13 different categories in which students can compete. They may be reciting great speeches, poetry or prose or retelling stories drawn from a hat, or preparing an argument on a topic. When is the State Speech tournament? Congrats to Ashley, Katy and Nick!

I care but don't always choose to comment on this website.

I think all children should be able to attend all day kindergarten without the parents worrying about being able to pay for it.

I would rather see my tax dollars go towards education of K-12 than other things that benefit few people. Educating young people is an investment in the future that none of us should take for granted.

The all-day increase was voted on and put into effect back in January of this year. This is April. Semantics-schemantics! The way it was worded is suggestive of a current proposal for the board to take an increase. And, the poll was posted AFTER the board agreed to REDUCE that pay on Monday, 4/7/08.
