I agree with you lb. I think they could have done something different and still made the same amount of money. I know that my family buys from different fund raisers when asked and it is not because we want the products it is only to support the kids.

Instead of thinking it is a waste of food, you could also think of it as a life saving measure.... All of the additive and fat that is involved in a Sundae is not going into their stomachs and not on their bodies or rotting their teeth.... maybe next year I will save some of the old apples that fall to the ground at my mother’s house.... do you think Mrs. DeCorsey will go for a rotten apple pelting? (GIGGLE) I can see a Dentist being outraged…. That is their lively hood being spread all over the Principal…. Chuckle, chuckle … and yes, jenifurwiskers son did have fun… I asked him this morning…. I consider it a waste that food was bought for the purpose of being wasted. I didn't say I never wasted food, I just don't do it deliberately.

Glad your son had fun doing it. I don't approve, nor will be supporting this in the future. I don't have children at JES so I really don't care. What bothers me is the perception the event has on the general public (I can't be the only one who thought it was wasteful) and the message it sends the kids.

My son had a blast doing this! I say if the PTA raised the money, it is their business what the money goes to. The PTA does all sorts of amazing things for the schools. Hell, if you are that upset about it, I will throw in the fifty bucks.

It may be a motivator for the students, but it's still wasted food. (I mean really, who wants to waste ice cream!) Plus it seems disrespectful to me - sell lots of stuff so you can do mean things to your principal. Too bad they can't come up with a better motivator.
