Adam Everett's been around long enough. I know what to expect from him. Isn't he basically Greg Gagne?

The infield is more secure than last year, for sure.

And I'd wouldn't call any of Justin Morneau unpredictable, exactly. Let me go out on a limb here and say he's going to hit .280 with 30 homers and 100 or more RBI.

Of course the eternal optimist thinks the Twins infield is secure.

They might be in a better position than they were two weeks ago, but I wouldn't call the infield (and CF for that matter) secure. You have no idea what you are going to get out of ANY of them. You can even add Morneau to that list. Now, Morneau is a darn good player and definitely a starter and middle-of-the-order hitter, but do you even know what you are going to get from him next year? He was the MVP and then not even close. I imagine he probably settles somewhere in between the past two years, but I don't think anyone really knows for sure what Morneau will do. And the rest of the infield is the same way.

So long Carlos Silva, especially for that much coin.

OK, that was kind of a joke, yet a big dream too. If they could get Reyes that would be a major coup.

He would be my first choice at SS. But I don't necessarily see it happening.

I liked Bartlett, but I don't know if we might have already seen his "ceiling" of play (more the 2006 than 2007 version). If that is the case, then Bartlett wasn't going to be anything special. Of course, I agree, Harris is probably a journeyman at this point. He is a year younger than Bartlett, but has already spent time with 4 major league teams. He had a good season actually, but I would feel better about him if he had done it more than once.

I think getting a new SS (and 3B for that matter) should be priorities. I think I can live with Harris as a stopgap, but a short-term one only.

So Mr. Wishy Washy, who's your solution at shortstop if you don't like anybody? Do you lean toward fielders like Punto or hitters like Bartlett and Harris?

You love the trade and showing some guts is the only reason?

Mathias, only you the greatest Twin homer of all time, could get excited about a journeyman shortstop like Brendan Harris.

He's a stopgap. If you put one of those winter masks on Harris, Punto and Bartlet - the ones with the cut out holes for the eyes, nose and and mouth - and made them play with it all year long by season's end nobody could pick out who was really our shortstop for the year.

It would be a guess because they are all basically the same guy more or less.

I love the trade. It shows some guts. The Twins need to move in a new direction.
