R. W. Johnson - Brandon will be missed, for whatever was thrown against the wall at or to the 'JI' we could count on finding response somewhere in the paper. I hope that Brandin can find the way back occassionlly and even do some 'guest' thiings.

His first day (and probably last, as far as I know) as a freelancer was Heimatfest. He officially left the week before that. We've been in the hiring process for a while now and are getting close to finding a new staff writer. Can't wait!

But Brandon will be missed, for sure.

I’m excited about the upcoming medallion hunt, too. I’ve never really looked, but I love trying to guess where the medallion will be found. Deciphering clues is the best part of the hunt – I’ll leave the actual looking to others.

The forecast calls for a beautiful weekend for Heimatfest. That’s good news, because a weekend with the kind of heat we’ve been having lately would have been a whole lot less fun.
