Rocks in the gallery, too, right? That sounds like a nice touch. You do great work, Jayne.

My favorite band is MxPx.

My favorite band is MxPx. Originally, the band had a rotten name, Magnified Plaid, so it decided to go by initials. The X's are periods, but you pronounce them when saying the "new" name of the band.

Me First and the Gimme

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is one of the few "Something Something and the Something Somethings" names I like because it's funny and sort of making fun of that format.

I kind of like the name

I kind of like the name Death Cab for Cutie – it’s based on a song The Beatles sang in their weirdo TV special “Magical Mystery Tour.”

As for other favorite band names, I’ve got to give props to The Who, The New Pornographers, Eisley (named for a certain Star Wars space port), Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Relient K, Five Iron Frenzy, Styx, and The Zombies.

That doesn’t even include bands that have one of the musicians names in them – Sly and the Family Stone, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

I’ve never been much for a

I’ve never been much for a quote on the end of my e-mail. I know a bunch of people who do them, but I could never really find one that I liked enough to apply it to all my correspondences. One of my favorite quotes, though, has to be from Kurt Vonnegut’s “Cat’s Cradle” – “Some people got free furniture, and some people got bubonic plague.”

The lesson of the cliche “you win some, you lose some,” has never been better stated. But is that really the message I want to send on all my e-mails? Probably not.

I love the dragon quote, though, and it’s so very true.

I recently bought a DVD copy

I recently bought a DVD copy of "Animal House" when I realized MxPx played a cover of "Shout," you know the oldies song, on it as an extra. Loved it. I don't think that counts as selling out.

Music in commercials

Music in commercials actually grabs my attention although I wish that the artists would insist that they receive credit for their work beyond the obvious cash they get in form of on-screne recognition so I don't have to endlessly hunt online to find out who was singing that...

It's my gut reaction to say

It's my gut reaction to say they're selling out, but that's pretty old school. It doesn't seem like musicians have a lot of options to get their music out there. Most radio stations put the same artist and songs on rotation day in and day out and MTV no longer plays music (except when they go to commercial). I think that artist should get their music out there any way they can, and if that means selling out to a commercial or a sappy love scene on 'Greys', then so be it.
What new music has TV introduced to you?
