We were flipping back and forth between the two last night and, since I was in charge of the remote, it was my fault that we missed the three runs the Twins scored when they went from seven to 10 -- like I was supposed to know it was going to happen in the few minutes we were on the Olympics!

I've watched swimming, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, diving, women's softball, sculls, just to name a few. I try to watch sports that I am not familiar with to learn about them. The only time the TV hasn't been on the Olympics is when I turn to check on the MN Twins.

I watched a bunch of the track events last night, and it was pretty interesting. My wife is a big fan of Jamaica (she’s on the American board of Sunbeam Boys Home in Jamaica), so she was happy to see a number of Jamaican runners fare well. It was fun, too, to watch with my dad, who used to be a high school trackster himself and was a track coach.

I’m excited about the upcoming medallion hunt, too. I’ve never really looked, but I love trying to guess where the medallion will be found. Deciphering clues is the best part of the hunt – I’ll leave the actual looking to others.

I’m not a huge fan of the summer Olympics, but I tend to watch the swimmers and the basketball team. Of course, the opening ceremony starts during my rehearsal dinner and I’ll be on my honeymoon the next week while the events are running. So I’ll probably miss a good chunk of the games.

You will see Kevin Slowey pitch on Saturday. He pitched a gem on Monday night. We had Glenn Perkins last night. He was not stellar but did get the win. I just checked, Perkins pitches again on

I watched from home and I so wished I could be there in person for such an exciting game! I'll be there Saturday and I hope they can keep me on my feet and out of my seat!

The Twins played a great game last night (7-29-08) even though Perkins had a rough start to the game. It was a fun game to be
at. Morneau is awesome. He deserves consideration for league MVP. Nick Punto had 3 hits. I can't wait to go to the game on Sunday against Cleveland. Go Twins!

The Twins need to bring Liriano up and start him.
They need to make a move to shore up 3B and get someone - anyone - to hit behind Morneau other than Jason Kubel.

Kubel gives the new meaning to the phrase, "Statsitcs lie." Cuz his does. He's second on the team in homers and has some RBIs, but he's brutal. Plain and simple, brutal. When Cuddy comes back, I'd rather have Span or Cuddy DH.

Jhentges, you're right. The Twins've got some big games coming up, and experience will be a major factor in whether or not the good guys win. What about sending down Brian Bass, who is not bad but also not great, and putting Matt Guerrier in the long relief role that he has so excelled at in the past? Or consider this: How long do we wait for Boof Bonser to prove he belongs at the majors instead of Francisco Liriano? The bullpen is one area that could be improved. The Twins could also bring up Mariano Gomez, who joined the Twins system this past winter and has posted great numbers at Triple A.

I think you let Liriano stay in the minors until you have an opening whether by injury, trade or a current pitcher tanking.

It has to be Livian.

Word has it, the Twins recently have had Liriano revert to his old 3/4 arm slot after experimenting with some mechanical adjustments after his T-J surgery, and the effects have been drastically positive.
