I questioned why the Twins were willing to spend so much on a closer when they let the best pitcher in baseball walk. Mathias’ explanation that with a less than stellar starting rotation the Twins will need an excellent bullpen makes sense to me.

We'll see them in the playoffs, but the truth is, this series might be better for the hated Cleveland Indians than anyone else. They play the down-and-out Chicago White Sox, but maybe the South Siders will play spoilers this year.

I'll be at Tuesday night's game. Our sons bought us tickets for the Twins/Tigers match up as a way to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. Since our hearts belong to both teams, we'll be cheering all night long.
