The Brewers open up their home season tomorrow night, and I’m a little bummed that I can’t go to the game. I’m planning on catching at least a few games this summer, though.

How sad that someone would

How sad that someone would steal and torture an animal! Why would he think it was okay to kill someone's pet? Pets are members of the family.

I hope this man is punished severely.

My heart goes out to the family that lost their pet.

I just saw some students

I just saw some students using their Waves downtown going past the office of the Independent. I had a chance to try them out when the students were using them at school the other day, and it was a lot of fun. I was awful at it, though.

I’m not always a fan of team-building games, but these actually seem pretty cool. And that obstacle course looks like it would be a lot of fun.

Coach Johnson did not say why the game was cancelled/postponed. I suspect the field isn't ready for play yet.

I have a call to coach Johnson to find out why it was cancelled/postponed. As soon as I hear why I will post it here.

Also, coach did not know the status of tomorrow's game at Waseca this morning.

Sports schedules? Your local newspaper runs a schedule every week in the sports section. You can see the current week's print edition online; it's posted at about noon each Friday. Also the new sports editor, Todd Abeln, has been posting the game dates and times online; see the calendar at the right or on the front page of the Web at http://www.jordannews.com/community/calendar. That's the easy question.

Now for the tougher one. I'm not sure. I'd guess weather was a factor, but Todd, can you help with that one -- why was the game canceled?

Longtime Jordan resident and local history expert Paul Sunder stopped by the office of the Independent today and mentioned a season he remembered during which long-lasting winter weather held the Hubmen baseball team’s schedule to only one game.
