Eight young women showed up

Eight young women showed up at the informational meeting, an excellent turnout. The chamber of commerce wants to see more participation this year, and the meeting turnout has gotten organizers hopes up.

I think you win, Chel, as the person furthest away from Jordan blogging on the JI Web site. Thanks for updating us on your student teaching in New Zealand. Please keep us updated, won't you? I'd bet there are 15 or 20 little New Zealander boys who have a crush on their new teacher. I'm sure all the kids love you. Jordan is proud of you, and we miss you!

I can’t count the number

I can’t count the number of my friends who have graduated from college only to find themselves stuck in a financial nightmare, or even the number friends who have yet to graduate and are bracing for years of debt.

I understand that this plan wouldn’t necessarily reduce the cost of public higher education, but it would definitely help the students to learn the benefit of a budget and help keep education an affordable option for Minnesota high school graduates.

I went to school in the University of Wisconsin system. If a similar bill had been in place while I was in school, I would have saved thousands of dollars. I could have used that money saved as the downpayment on a house, money down on a new car or as an investment toward retirement.
