I asked my kids if they wanted any car ever made then all they would have to do is ask. The offer was on video and only valid for the first month after they were born. If they ask me later I can prove that I did ask them, it is not my problem that they did not answer. If you get her anything that can be keep-sake, she will probably cherish it, even if it is just a stick or a 2008 autographed Jag Volleyball. Just remember that unbreakable things break, lifetime guarantee means about a year or two. childproof means adults are going to have a hard time getting into it and in the first couple of months a smile from her does not mean happy it means something else.

Noisy "popcorn" popper push-toy ... we gave that as a gift a couple of times before we had kids. Drove the parents crazy. Unfortunately, paybacks were "you know what."

What to buy for the little one
- obnoxious light-up toys
- baseball glove
- chocolate pudding
- Wii with "Star Wars" game
- other "Star Wars" and "Star Trek" items
- stick
- cardboard box
- string
- carrot
- might as well throw in the rabbit

Any other suggestions? I'm going to the store later this week.

box, stick... add a string and you have one of those rodent capture traps that never works. I remember putting a carrot under one and never catching a rabbit. In any event a box with a stick in it makes the perfect christmas gift. Its Green. It requires little of that hard to remove packaging, and it is affordable. Back to the little one, I think Star Wars Items are a great Idea... maybe start her on her way to becomeing a fellow trekky (live long and prosper).

There was an item on the news this past week the newest inductee into the toy hall of fame this year was the stick. Just a plain ordinary stick. It takes its place next to the cardboard box that was inducted last year or the year before.

Kids these days don't know how good they've got it. When I was little my parents gave me a box - which entertained my three brothers and me for hours, somehow!

And when she's old enough for solid food, make sure you give her chocolate pudding when she comes to visit. I know my sister loved it when I fed that to her son, who was wearing a white shirt and tried to knuckle it into his mouth on his own. It also made a terrific hair gel for him ;-)

Yeah, I'm thinking she needs the "Star Wars" game on Wii. And a baseball glove. I excel at winding up the kids, especially with right-before-bedtime tickling -- a perfect diversion.

kids are great... expecially when you can wind them up and leave the parents to calm them down. Be sure to get her one of those loud, light-up toys as a gift, you will have to look for the good ones, they always put the soft sound and less offensive ones by the baby section, don't look there. I am sure her parents will be greatful.
