Sad to see the trees taken down, especially the oak tree. Hope it's all worth it in the end.

It was the World’s Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics -- a fund-raiser that takes place at various locations nationwide in September (and a few spots in October) throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The event is a project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

Due to the cost of fuel, the route was shortened from 25 miles last year to 3 miles this year.

That was the World's Largest Truck convoy. They came through town last year as well. They all stopped at Canturbury Downs for the weekend. I think I heard 320 trucks this year. Its done for something like Cancer research I think. Quite a site to see going down the highway.

Trucks on Hwy 169, what was

Trucks on Hwy 169, what was the happening this past Saturday [Sept. 13th]? Lots of trucks, lots of horn blowing and absolutely no idea why. Traffic slowed, on ramps policed for it, but I've seen nothing in the press saying anything about what looked like some sort of demonstration?

Every major artery in the

Every major artery in the Twin Cities metro is unpredictable from day to day and even hour to hour. 169 has been bad lately due to the roadwork they have been doing. They have reduced it down to one lane at times when traffic is normally high, making it even worse. The result of the work is great -- the pavement was pretty beat up. We have had a population growth south of the river (Scott County). The result is more cars/traffic to deal with.

169 traffic volume is too

169 traffic volume is too high to create any predictability in travel going very far North. If you are traveling from Jordan to Shakopee or south from Jordan, it's pretty constant. The roads that are unpredictable are those that fill up with commuter traffic, such as 494, 394, 169 north of Hwy 13, County Road 42, you get the idea.

It's a big highway, which part are you referring to? I'd break it into four parts, North of 494 to 394, 394 North to Champlin, [North of that can be crazy as well but lets ignore that], South of 494 prior to the Marshall Road Exit, then from there to LeSeure.

It would be a big surprise if the project did not happen. This is the question: When? To that, we have no answer yet. Be patient, friends.

In a previous article

In a previous article http://www.jordannews.com/node/2835, it was reported that funding had been approved; maybe the plans are just the next phase of the project. I know I haven’t been contacted yet regarding the land acquisition involved. Here is small part of that previous news item:

... the intersection plan must first by approved by the state aid review process.

"We also need to accomplish the necessary land acquisitions during the review process," Caron said.

I'll keep an eye for you, I'm at ground zero anyway.

Speaking of Highway 282,

Speaking of Highway 282, today I received a voicemail from Jordan City Engineer Carol Caron, who said the Minnesota Department of Transportation hasn't approved the plan for reconstruction yet.

There is no timeline for bidding the project or getting the work done, Caron said in the message.

The thing that I find funny

The thing that I find funny is Hwy 282 will be torn up in a few weeks.

That was a waste of paint, labor, etc.
