Now that I am out of the fantasy league for this season, I hope they take it easy on Peterson.

I really could have used the points on Sunday, (I only missed out on the playoffs by about 10 points), but as a Vikings fan, once they got up so big, I was glad they took AD out of that game.

Well, like I said, now I am watching the rest of the games unbiased. Out to make it fun.

I’m guaranteed playoff

I’m guaranteed playoff spots in both my leagues, and I’m pretty well locked into the seeding that I’ll get. So all I have to do now is ride it out and hope that my quarterbacks (Romo and Brady) and running backs (Willie Parker and AD Peterson) can rack up the points in the coming weeks.

It feels weird to be cheering for a Viking, though, especially when they actually have a shot at the playoffs this year.

And it's never relaxing to sit back and watch the Packers. As a true fan, I worry about the Pack enough that I lose sleep some nights.

Yeah, thanks to Joseph

Yeah, thanks to Joseph Addai's worst day of the season, and Marques Colston reverting back to week 1-5 form I am out in my favorite league. I hate to say that. I always have such success in that league. It's 10 friends and we have all been together playing fantasy baseball and football for like 8 years now. It's a good time, and now that I am out of the playoffs, I am sure I will hear about it.

I do have another league in which I qualified for the playoffs, and that team is looking OK, but I don't think it is championship caliber. And, to be honest, I don't care as much about that league. Too bad, its been quite the off year for me in fantasy football. Too many strange things have happened. It almost (almost) makes fantasy football no fun when it is such a crap shoot.

Oh well, at least I get to watch the final four weeks of the season unbiased and I dont have to worry about Addai getting 15 or 20 carries, or whether AD shares the ball with Chester Taylor, or whether the Panthers can actually find someone to throw the ball to Steve Smith.

It's been fun, now I will jsut sit back and watch the best part of the NFL season unfold without any extra agenda.

Although I never had a Nintendo, I played several days a week at friends' houses. "Double Dragon" was always my favorite.

No, she’s been to the fair

No, she’s been to the fair lots of times, which was good because then at least one of us knew the lay of the land. If I had been there by myself for the first time, I would have been completely overwhelmed.

When I asked my friend (who is a woman), she didn’t even know what Ye Old Mill was, nor had she ever been to the haunted house.

We also went to the art exhibit, got malts at the Empire Commons (which is not called the dairy building), heard some country yodelers and a girl playing the accordion at the talent show, and saw the butter heads (although we didn’t see them being carved).

I also pointed out the giant slide and said how fun they were, but we decided not to give it a try.

All in all, I realized that a few short hours are not enough time to spend at the fair, and that I’ll need to spend much more time there if I choose to go back next year (which I think is a pretty sure bet).

What you missed -- or what

What you missed -- or what you aren't telling us -- is Ye Old Mill, which is best when ridden with a woman. Cue the smart alec responses. Go ahead, I can take 'em. After writing what I just wrote, I deserve them, too, I suppose.

But to give a more helpful answer to what I think you were asking, you should've also made a point to stop do the following:

- the art exhibit, which is always fantastic, in my opinion;

- the giant slide, which would've been a great ride, despite your fear of heights;

- a music performer of some kind;

- ostrich on a stick, which -- if I'm not mistaken -- comes from Prior Lake, smothered in Oriental sauce;

- watching a demonstration of how to carve the likeness of a dairy princess out of an oversized chunk of butter;

- buckets of cookies;

- the dairy building malts;

- getting yourself onto a newscast shot live from the fair;

- drinking all the milk you can drink for a quarter (it costs more now ... maybe a 50 cents or a buck?);

- the bazaar, a marketplace of international goods and foods;

- and the haunted mansion, which is also an advisable location for a portion of one's date.

There is so much you might have missed, another trip -- woman in tow? -- is probably warranted. The state fair closes Labor Day.

The booth had jerk chicken,

The booth had jerk chicken, but I ended up getting a patty (which my friend described as a sort of Jamaican hot pocket). She said they weren’t as good as the real things from Jamaica, but I thought it tasted all right. I do like jerk chicken, though, and it looked good there.

I didn’t see the s’mores on a stick, but I was surprised at just how many foods you could buy on a stick. I was tempted by both the corn beef and cabbage meal on a stick and the spaghetti and meatball meal on a stick. The key lime pie on a stick sounded pretty good, too.

What kind of Jamaican food

What kind of Jamaican food did you eat? Jerk chicken? Peas and rice? I'll have to look for that booth when I go to the fair this weekend! I'm also curious about the S'mores on a stick and the chicken wings with chipotle plum sauce. I need to plan ahead for something new and different, or I'll end up eating another unsatisfying onion blossom.

I love Balderdash, but

I love Balderdash, but penmanship has gotten me in trouble countless times. In fact, penmanship has been my downfall for as long as I can remember. Even as far back as elementary school, I would get lowered grades because the teachers couldn’t read my handwriting. I often got notes on my report cards from my teachers telling my parents that I pressed too hard. You could usually read what I had written in pages underneath the actual paper I was writing on because I left indentations. There are even a few places on my parents' kitchen table where you can read my name and whatever homework I was doing.
