Update: I’m about halfway

Update: I’m about halfway through my music collection in iTunes, and my playlist for this year’s summer cruising is currently about 260 songs long. When I get through all my music, I expect that number to jump to around 400, and then I'll whittle it down to 20 or so for a one-CD playlist.

Is it weird that I am this excited about making a playlist? Yes, but I’m OK with that.

I think I’ve already got one possibility for an addition to the list: “Getting Better” by The Beatles. What could make a day brighter than the Fab Four letting you know that things are on the way up?

A couple of other songs that have recently popped up in my mind for consideration on the summer playlist are “Lloyd, I’m ready to be Heartbroken” by Camera Obscura and “Beautiful Day” by U2. And I’m thinking I should include an Elvis Costello song and maybe on by The Jam.

I think maybe I’ll make it a double CD this year.

Not that it's my favorite

Not that it's my favorite song or anything, but I just can't get this "Soldier Boy" (or "Soulja Boy" song out of my head. I think it's by OUTTHERE -- not sure. I stopped trying to figure it out when I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm0k9W7vz3g. Then, I got sidetracked.

Yes, Weird Al puts on a great show. Very funny stuff, with costume changes and video clips. I would recommend that everyone should see him at least once.

John Denver always put on great concerts back in the day. I really miss his showmanship. Although I am a loyal 80's hair band fanatic, I still have a spot for John, Don Williams, Carpenters, and even Air supply! (although I fell asleep at an Air Supply concert in the 80's)

I used to hate when my mom made us kids listen to things like the Carpenters and John Denver, too. Now I buy the CDs and listen to them myself. I don't think I'll ever take to her love of Amy Grant, though, unless it's in the form of a Christmas album.

Can’t say I’ve ever listened to Don Williams, but I do like some Charlie Rich (“Behind Closed Doors” is a catchy tune, what can I say?).

I have John Denver CDs in my car too, Brandon! And I proudly sing along (drives my kids crazy) - I love "Sunshine" too. Other guilty music pleasures - Air Supply and other early 80s soft rock and Don Williams, the gentle country giant.

I own the entire Weird Al library, and actually went to two of his concerts in one weekend this summer.

Oh, and the John Denver song that gets stuck in my head would be "Grandma's Featherbed"
