If you would like to watch the Mayor and Council Forums online go to the City website. I tried to attach the address above. If it doesn't work try www.jordan.govoffice.com. We have the last regular City Council meeting is at the middle near the bottom of this main page. We will try to have every future meeting posted at this spot shortly after that meeting from now on.

The two forums, which are thanks to the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce, are to be found on the right hand side under "Whats New", 2008 Mayor and Council Forums. Thanks and have a good one.

I counted 82 people twice

I counted 82 people twice throughout the evening. Once in the middle of the council forum and once in the middle of the mayor forum.

I did count participants.

I think the program did what it was supposed to. It was a great start. The Chamber had received quite a few calls prior to the event wondering if it was going to be on cable because they had conflicts.

The lack of attendance could

The lack of attendance could have been due to it being family week. Religious events for students were not scheduled this week with the idea that families spend the night together. I personally enjoyed being able to be home with my family and not have to run anywhere for one night. While I would have liked to attend the forum, it was more important for me to be home with my family. I am glad, however, that I will be able to view it on cable or online.

The STRIB reported 70 people

The STRIB reported 70 people attended. Don't know if they were including those who were running the forum, plus the audience.

I didn't see any high school aged faces in the audience, though I should say that it was pretty hard to tell who was out there against the lights.

Ray Sandy and the JACC provided a captioner for me, and I can't begin to say how much I appreciate that. It was really a big help. THANKS!

Regarding the questions, given the nature of the forum, some of the questions weren't as deep as they might have been. Hopefully, people in town will ask the various candidates hard questions. People need to probe about the 14-22% tax increase, about where candidates stand on expansion, the library and more. The forum was good, but it doesn't end things. I'll be at the volley ball game tonight, for anyone who wants to ask me questions or offer comments.

The chamber is working to

The chamber is working to get the forum online.

The day, Wednesday, October 22, 2008 was chosen because the auditorium was available, there were no sports to compete with and many of the other organizations; Commercial Club, Lions, Jaycees,EDA, City Council, Planning Commission, Park Board, School Board did not have their meetings on this night.

There is not many available evenings in the monthly calandar to add a special event like this.

I think the event went very well. It was a great chance to see the differences in the candidates.

And this was not a city meeting. This program was put on by the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce, a group dedicated to making Jordan a great place to have a business and to do business.

Well, it was the first time. What were there -- 100 people? Maybe people have their minds made up already or they're planning to watch it on cable.

I'm working on the story

I'm working on the story right now. Not everyone's answer will be in the paper like they would be for a Q&A when I'm asking the questions. I'm thinking of writing it more as an issue-focused story than a point-by-point sort of thing.

Also Jordan Community Education and Recreation will be airing the forum at 4 p.m. this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on cable channel 14.

Wednesday night is a bad night to hold a city meeting.

Will the paper give a run down of the questions asked and the responses?

I was pretty surprized (& discouraged) that there wasn't a better turnout for the forum. Considering the poll The Paper took yesterday which showed that the people who responded, thought the race for the mayor & city council was more important than the presidential race.

Brandon it's too bad you won't get to see The Hobbit... it is absolutely amazing! The pyrotechnics, fog, the set... it is beyond words. Josh and Jessica have outdone themselves as the directing team and the kids are great! Sorry you missed it-

Facebook.com is interesting.

Facebook.com is interesting. With the intent of finding some people with connections to Jordan, I opened an account on the site: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=511170699.

Not all of my information is as thorough as it should be, but I think it's fun for non-students nonetheless. Don't you think you'd be inclined to check in at Facebook.com once in a while after you've graduated?

I'm hoping that other Facebook.com and MySpace.com users will post links to their account home pages, so that they are easier to find.

A lot of Air Jordan and people named Jordan come up when you search Facebook.com for "Jordan."

Probably the biggest

Probably the biggest networking Web site that current and former college students use is www.facebook.com. When it was first created, only people with a college email address could have an account.

That set them apart from the other known networking Web site www.MySpace.com where anyone and everyone can have an account. There is a lot of garbage and advertising in this site.

In the last couple months, Facebook sold out and opened its doors to everyone with an email address. Much to the dismay of the college users.

So, Facebook and MySpace is where many JHS grads are at.
