I'm with Thom on this one. Certainly giving this level of attention to what amounts to a non-event will reward those that did it and only reinforce and reward their behavior, increasing the odds you'll see more. Maybe that dog isn't a bad idea.

This is probably a school kid prank. The JI doesn't have any trees to toilet paper, so the sidewalk got chalked. Don't let such juvenile behavior get you down. Wash the sidewalk, and move on.

Of course, if it happens again, you might want to borrow somebody's third dog for a while to guard your place.

Obviously, whoever left the chalk message does not understand that newspapers simply report the news. It is the city leaders that are making the decisions that the person is reacting to.

I think chalk on a sidewalk is a childish way to
make a view known.

You might be right, H. I mean, that kind of comment could easily have been taken the wrong way by me. It's not just an issue of the messenger's message. It's the way the recipient of the message received the message. Good point.
