Sorry. Anyone who loves brown rice can reply here. So as I write this, the vote total is:

- two for fried rice with vegetables
- one for brown rice

That is a pretty good episode. I thought about voting for “Until I’m dead” but I just couldn’t justify it. I’m a hot-and-cold eater. Sometimes I love to eat, and I just crave all sorts of food. But other times I go through weeks or months during which I’m not really craving food at all, and I just eat because I know I really should. That started right around the time I started eating only once a day.

May not seem like much

May not seem like much money, but according to http://inflationdata.com/inflation/Inflation_Calculators/InflationCalcul..., the dollar has almost doubled in value in the past 70 years. So it's more like raising $193.03.

I'm glad no one has voted for "I'm dead." That reminds me of the "Simpsons" episode in which Homer enters the steak-eating contest and has to go on the road and drive a truck for the guy he competed against, who died after eating his entire mega-steak.

I pay attention to the size portion that I have on my plate. When the food is gone, I am done.

Brandon,
I am Pat's brother.
Great job with this article.
It really captures some of their current struggles with this unfortunate part of their lives right now.
The response from family & friends in Jordan has been truely amazing & words alone cannot
explain the gratitude we all feel.
We're all looking forward to seeing everyone at the benefit on the 10th.
Our family greatly appreciates the JI's support & know that this allows people to read about their fellow Jordanians even though we don't all reside in Jordan.
If you grew up in Jordan, that is always our true home...
Thank you writing such a wonderful article !
We had a very successful NNO

We had a very successful NNO in our neighborhood! It is nice to talk with Community Officers--and the kids love it! I was a little disappointed -- in our neighborhood we had 3 different parties instead of just one--not sure why?
We should all be proud of the community we live in and how hard they work to help make this event so fantastic!

I thought N.N.O. (National Night Out) went really well! It such a great chance to get out and meet those living around you and to re-connect with neighbors you may not have seen for a while.

You can't hardly beat a double-bag using paper bags for strength. Back when I was stock clerk at a grocery store, a co-worker & I had a contest to see how much (heavy) we could pack someone's groceries using the double bag (this was before pastic bags came on the scene). I won by packing 18 Hi-C Juice cans in a single double bag. I'm not sure how much it weighed but I'm guessing it was between 20 to 25 pounds!

Can I sound old for a

Can I sound old for a second? Thanks.

Back when I was your age, we didn't have handles on our paper grocery bags. And the truth is, paper bags weren't meant to be carried by handles. They were made to carry a lot of stuff but also to be carefully cradled in one's arms. You seem to want it both ways, you whippersnapper -- you want the handles and lots of stuff -- and that's why your handles break.

It won't be long before your plastic bag handles snap, too, and you'll learn a lesson. Have you even watched the scene in "Home Alone" during which Macaulay Culkin has to grocery shop by himself and he spills his groceries from the bottoms of his plastic bags? Paper bags would've solved Macaulay's problem, wouldn't they've?

Rah, rah, hoorah for paper!
