From time to time, this Web site will bring up an old story. I'm guessing that's what you saw -- something from two years ago (one city council election ago), when Trudy Smith and Dale Oldenburg resigned. Jeremy Goebel was re-elected that year, there were several candidates, and David Hanson and Jeanne Marnoff joined the council.

That is incorrect. Goebel's

That is incorrect. Goebel's seat on the Jordan City Council is not up for election this year. Most recently, he was re-elected in 2006. City council and mayoral terms run for four years.

The seats held by Mayor Ron Jabs and councilmembers Sally Schultz, Mike Shaw, and Barry Ullmann are up for election this November. To my knowledge, none of these candidates has announced his or her intentions about re-election.

If someone wants to file for city elections, they ought to do so between Aug. 26 and Sept. 9. For more information, call the city at 952-492-2535.

Another good place for discussion about the city council election might be in this forum: http://www.jordannews.com/community/forums/local-goverment/city-election....

I do not remember who was not seeking reelection. But Jeremy Goebal was. It was from a artical printed on this site, also it was around filing date dead line.

The problems with waiting until election time is only 1 is seeking reelection, the other 2 are not. So hopfully people still remember this issue at the time the other seek reelection if they do.

Just wait until elections

Just wait until elections are held, then we will see who won.

Taking the land by condemnation did not need to happen. The intersection did not need to be widened in order to replace the lights.

Shame on the city for taking land away from the Church that has been in existence 150 years.

Easter was fun for me this year – my fiancée and I decorated eggs and brought them to her parents’ house. We didn’t actually hunt for the eggs, but we did attended a pretty cool vespers service and ate some delicious food.

I also learned how to say "Happy Easter" in sign language.

Fr. Timothy Yanta said the damage has been less than he expected when he first came into the church Monday morning to see water gushing from the ceiling. As of press time, they didn’t yet know what caused the leak.

Yanta credits the church’s good fortune to the quick responses of Jordan’s fire department and to Myron Pauly, who was praying in the adoration chapel when the pipe broke, and quickly thought to start pushing water out the door with a shovel when he saw what was happening.

The school is back in business today, but will be working without the library and computer lab, both of which should be open again by next week.

For more on the pipe break, read tomorrow’s edition of the JI.

I see a photo of the damage on the home page of the JI website. Do you have more photos?

Any updates? I could tell the school was open today (Wednesday) the 13th.

It really is a shame. It is such a beautiful church and school.

Well, they're from the same country at least. See these:

Such a mixed bag, good

Such a mixed bag, good points on both sides. Safety, the stop lights don't stop people from crossing against them nor the cars that almost rush over those that do use the crosswalks. These are far more common occurrences than the driver or pedestrian that couldn't "see" at the present intersection.

Noise and vibration, it will be less with the concrete piazza gone. No one knows that better than my family.

Esthetic's, will be worse. We going to loose grass and tress along the development at the intersection.

Traffic improvement should occur, but I do believe now that it's wider there will be an increase in trucks seen. And of course with all that fresh pavement the boys of summer will have to prove something by the excessive acceleration always popular at this location.

Dividing the city, well the jury's out on that one. Didn't the "city" already move out by the highway? We're a bedroom community now, there isn't a great deal of foot traffic or sense of neighborhood to fuss over down here anyway.

It's a shame that our state reps weren't heard from more, good bad or otherwise it would have been at least interesting to get their read on this whole thing, very noticeable in their absence.

The majority of us drive cars, we're all for road expansion, look at downtown Shakopee, I certainly cheered when they gutted that downtown for the new bridge there and it's expanded left hand turn lane. What goes around comes around.
