It would have been nice for the DNR to put a NO FISHING on the millpond for the first couple of years to get things going.

Crappie and bluegill have a continuous season.
Bass opener is May 24 in our area.
May 10 opener is for walleye, sauger, northern pike, lake trout and stream trout which are not stocked in Mill Pond.

I must've missed that photo op. Oops. But it was nice to get some pics of Jordan High School students helping the DNR stock the pond with fish from Pelican Lake, which is in Wright County. The DNR will be back next week to continue the process.

I just saw some students using their Waves downtown going past the office of the Independent. I had a chance to try them out when the students were using them at school the other day, and it was a lot of fun. I was awful at it, though.

Sorry, swansonmej, you must've missed the disclaimer on the site that I linked to -- something like "not for the faint of heart." Dead fish, mostly, are what might be offensive to some people.

I think you'll see some shots of people enjoying the pond soon enough. For one, see yesterday's print edition of your local newspaper.
