What would the JI do

What would the JI do without Gregg Busch and Paul Sunder? When they stop writing -- and I hope that is a long, long, long time -- your local newspaper will dramatically change forever. Thanks to these two dedicated columnists.

I agree. It was a great way to showcase Sunder, who has done a lot for the town of Jordan.

That's why I left it up on the cabinet. Funny, huh?

If I’m remembering

If I’m remembering correctly – and I think I am – I was actually driving buy the former gas station while it was being torn down. It seems like that would be the perfect place for a gas station – halfway between New Prague and Shakopee, and at a busy intersection. I wonder what caused its demise?

I can remember this

I can remember this town....not that long ago, being a "small town". We have really changed over the last 15 years or so. You used to walk into Radermachers or Pekarna's Meat Market, or Trimart Gas Station and know everyone that was in the store. Now when you walk into Radermachers your lucky if you know 10% of the customers that are in there at any given time.

Growth is good, and growth is bad. I heard this past week that within the next 20 years the City of Prior Lake city limits will be at Pueblo Ave, which is about 2 miles outside of Jordan on 282.

I guess if you want a "small town" anymore you have to move outside the Metro Area.....a long ways outside.

R. W. Johnson
This article

R. W. Johnson
This article by Mathias Baden clearly demonstrates how and why a 'small town' (forgive me)newspaper out shines the 'big city' rags and the vital role played in our community. What a wonderful history our forefathers have left behind and what strong roots they have planted. It is Mathias' writings such as these, that dig out our great traditions. As one of the highlights of my year (and for the last 75), I have looked forward to the Memeorial Day Services at Spirit Hill. With the Iraqi War churning on, it has suddenly become fashionable for communities to pay homage to to those who serve and have served in the Military. 'It is altogether fitting and proper that we do this'. Jordan has been doing this for, I would guess, almost 100 years. No new discovery here. And, if I can continue to borrow some one else's words, Jordan clearly demonstrates that our Military has 'not served or died in vain'.
