The Mill Pond really is a town treasure, and it seems like the city is willing to pay to keep it that way.

I don’t know why, really, but I’m pretty excited to see the actual work of dredging the pond. There’s going to be a lot of earth moving around.

Actually, it depends which Bridle Creek park you visited. The Club at Bridle Creek, the one with the pool, is privately owned and operated.

Yes, I think the "not so nice gentleman” simply wanted you to leave. Unless I am wrong, it is a city park and anyone can use it.

Here is the part I don't

Here is the part I don't understand...why would the city spend money on parks inside housing developments? I once brought my son to the park in Bridle Creek's addition, and was told by a resident that the park was for "the people who lived in Bridle Creek" If this is true, why should the city spend money on the park if it is not accessible to all citizens of Jordan? It seems unfair. Or maybe the guy was just saying that so we would leave, who knows.

I’ve walked that section

I’ve walked that section of road before, and I never really thought anything of the fact that there was no sidewalk. I understand that it would make the walk to Lagoon Park safer for children and families in the area, but I guess that was never really an issue when I was a kid – we walked on the street all the time because there often weren’t sidewalks for us to use.

I am a Hillside

I am a Hillside Avenue/Stuart Drive neighborhood resident and frequent visitor to Lagoon Park. I often walk "the loop" north through the Lagoon Park, up Sunset Drive, through the school campus area, and down Hillside Drive. Many people (joggers, parents with strollers, dog-walkers) take this route through Jordan's neighborhoods. I'd like to see sidewalk or tar walkway along the stretch of Hillside Drive from Stuart Drive to Park Drive. It seems odd that we provide safe walkways in the form of sidewalks up until this point, but on the last block pedestrians walk to the park, we force them to walk on the street. Though there is less traffic along this stretch than there used to be, there is still enough to warrant a safe route. There are many children in the Stuart Drive and Chad Circle neighborhoods who would enjoy a safer walk to the park if there was a walkway.

I have mixed feelings on dog

I have mixed feelings on dog parks. They are a great place for dogs to learn socialization, to get exercise and to just be a dog.

They are also great places for owners who have not trained their dogs properly to let them run around and chew on other dogs. I know a few people whose dogs have been attacked by other dogs at dog parks.

I personally do not use dog parks. I don't know if the other dogs have been properly vaccinated, have worms, or fleas, etc. I choose to use a daycare for my dog where each dog has been screened for social skills, turns in vaccination records, and is monitored to keep any bad situation from turning into a fight. I do not have a fenced in yard, yet. I'm trying to figure out the best fence situation while living in an association that doesn't allow complete 6 ft fences while figuring out how to contain a dog who can jump over a 5 ft fence.

Oh, Brandon, I am so sorry

Oh, Brandon, I am so sorry that you will never be getting married -- just an assumption based on the "absolutely necessary" comment that just screams control freak.

Before we were married, my husband claimed to not like cats but I brought one with me when we tied the knot and -- except for cleaning the litter box -- he has become her primary caregiver and object of her utmost and undying affection and the feelings appear to be mutual. She is a very vocal cat and I have even heard him "speaking" to her in her native tongue (mimicking the noises that she makes).

I also had a dog prior to the nuptials (which I'm sure helped cushion the blow of the cat) and, when I moved from my house with a fenced-in yard in Indiana to an apartment in Minnesota, arrangements had to be made for exercise and the dog parks were just the ticket. We since moved to a townhome (still no fenced yard) and graduated to a second dog in August; sadly, we are now back to just one dog due to having to euthanize our 10-year-old German shepherd in February. The dog parks provide a place for dogs to socialize -- yes dogs need friends, too! -- as well as a safe environment for letting the dogs off leash to run, run, run. Unfortunately, I cannot run as fast as my dog and trying to do so from the back end of a leash would mean either my arms would be pulled from their sockets or I would have some serious road rash from the crash and burn of the fall trying to keep up.

Even when I did have a suitable yard, I still took my dog on walks and, for lack of a dog park nearby, let her run free with me on the fenced-in track of a neighborhood school. I would not have let her loose if others were on the track unless I asked them first if they would mind and I always clean up after my dog -- whether I'm in my own yard, walking down a street or in a dog park.

Plus, just the entertainment value of watching these dogs let loose in the dog parks is something I would pay watch if I had to. Have you ever been to an organized dog show? While those are fun to watch, too, they have nothing on the carefree romping of the dog parks. I'm headed out to the one at Cleary Lake after work tonight if you want to join me! It's 35 acres of doggone fun and you might meet the woman of your dreams there!

Nice little video of the waterfall in the winter! and you are right, it does make you want to live in a small toen by a creek with a waterfall. (I live about as far away from that scenerio as you can... inthe suburbs by a pool!)
When I was in college, one

When I was in college, one of the public relations classes did the same thing with the chamber of commerce. Both sides thought it was a great experience. The chamber got a nice brochure to hand out to new residents and college students, and the students got some hands-on experience working to meet a customer's specific design needs.
