“The Office” is one of the only shows that my fiancée watches or wants to watch regularly, and that’s fine with me. It’s darn funny. If you like the humor of the American version, maybe check out “Arrested Development” – my vote for one of the funniest sitcoms on DVD.

I started with the BritCom version as well. I haven't seen much of the American version on primetime TV, but plan to rent seasons of it as time allows.

It's some of that "clench your teeth/turn your face aside" humor which creates a true physical reaction for me. I want to see it, I find it very funny, but I cringe because these scenarios are SO uncomfortable. That doesn't stop me from watching it, though. VERY funny stuff!

I like the way you summed up your tastes in regard to Steve Martin.

My darling wife and I happened to have had a short discussion on the same topic last night. We worked out on the elliptical while watching "The Family Guy," which she loves.

"I can see why you like that show so much," I said.

"No, you don't," she said.

"How do you know?" I retorted.

I'm trying a few new things lately, such as buying my wife "Blue Harvest," a "The Family Guy" knockoff of "Star Wars." In the past, I would've shunned such a purchase, but I figure I might like it if I try it.

By the way, at the library today, I checked out season three of "Futurama." I've never seen it. Tonight's the night.

Sure I've adjusted a little

Sure I've adjusted a little here and there for love, but I think I've learned more about myself. Since meeting my husband he has given me the courage to try new things. Things that I may have wanted to do, but didn't think that I could. The two things he's taught me that have changed me the most are: photography (he took me on a hike and taught me how to use a manual SLR and I imediately fell in love with taking photos) and song writing (I've always been into music and I'm a singer, but I never would have considered writing a song and now I know that I can). The cool thing about marriage is that sometimes your spouse can see your potential better than you can.

I think it's great that you're watching American Idle. I know that when I started watching Project Runway a few years back, my husband thought it wasn't worth the time. I got him to watch one episode with me and now we look farward to watching it together every Wednesday night. That show and Lost are our favorites to watch and comment on together. So you never know, Idle might end up being your favorite show - maybe next year you can even audition.

I don't want to make it seem like watching the show with Molly was torture, because it wasn't. I'd gladly watch "American Idol" and only "American Idol" for the rest of my life if it meant I got to spend time with her.

I'm just saying that I never really thought I'd watch that show, and I am now because of her.

When I married my current husband (he's my second), I was a ultra-organized person. My daughter already knew me to be a drill sergeant about "a place for everything and everything in its place" in our house.

However, my husband is a disorganized, never-throw-anything-away slob and it used to (and sometimes still does) make me crazy to see his little (and sometimes big) piles of junk everywhere. Now, I just dust around it or put it in a box (we've got lots of those in the garage) or, if I'm lucky and he goes out of town, head to the trash can with some things.

The first time my daughter found our house in such disarray, she looked around and said, "Mom, you've changed!"

And here I thought I pull him up and he's dragging me down :-(

I can understand your point about the lack of creativity, there are some real losers highlighted. But I am an avid Idol watcher since the finale of Season 1. Without much exception, it is an amazing transformation to watch the best emerge from week to week. Fools like William Hung and Sanjaya chip at the integrity of the production, but this Idol listener has 4 Idol finalist discs in his changer today.

I hate “American Idol,” but everyone in my family – from my parents to my girlfriend – think it’s the bee’s knees. I don’t get what the hubbub is. To me, it’s the death of creativity in the American music industry. The show is only a global propaganda machine fueled by bad karaoke impressions that require no actual talent aside from mimicry.

I recently bought a DVD copy of "Animal House" when I realized MxPx played a cover of "Shout," you know the oldies song, on it as an extra. Loved it. I don't think that counts as selling out.

Music in commercials

Music in commercials actually grabs my attention although I wish that the artists would insist that they receive credit for their work beyond the obvious cash they get in form of on-screne recognition so I don't have to endlessly hunt online to find out who was singing that...

It's my gut reaction to say they're selling out, but that's pretty old school. It doesn't seem like musicians have a lot of options to get their music out there. Most radio stations put the same artist and songs on rotation day in and day out and MTV no longer plays music (except when they go to commercial). I think that artist should get their music out there any way they can, and if that means selling out to a commercial or a sappy love scene on 'Greys', then so be it.
