Bravo, bigbobbob. I never thought that a blog about the N key on a computer keyboard could be turned into such a beautiful statement on life.

Pushing down the keys and

Pushing down the keys and having them push back is called, "tactile response'. There is a lot of that in life (even for Editors) when you push on something, it pushes back. That shows up in politics, sometimes more than we like, sometimes not often enough.

I’m not going to lie – I

I’m not going to lie – I like complaining. With that in mind, I’ll say this about my new keyboard: it’s great, but it will take me a little while to get used to the feel of the keys. They take a little more effort to push down than the keys on my previous keyboard.

How's that new keyboard

How's that new keyboard working out for you? You sound kind of like a pessimist or a complainer, mentioning only the old, rickety keyboard and not the new one you just received yesterday. Hmm, want my advice, too? Be thankful for what you've got.

Not eating near the keyboard

Not eating near the keyboard is good advice, but I don’t think it caused my problem. When I eat at my desk, I usually keep the food well away from the keyboard, and I try to be careful.

Judging from some of the items in the office area that I inherited, my guess is that the keyboard in question has been at this desk since before I graduated high school – or earlier. Some of the phone books that hold up my computer monitor are from 1998/1999.

I do feel lucky, though, not to have a fingernail problem with my keys – and I wholeheartedly agree that no one should be typing so much. I’ve tried countless times to enact a company “No working on nice days” policy in Jordan, but it hasn’t worked yet.

Perhaps, in order to keep

Perhaps, in order to keep the new keyboard from suffering N-stickage, Brandon should be banned from eating at his desk -- or you could make him get a dog to lick up the crumbs. Or maybe buy him one of those cans of air with the plastic straw thing on it that cyclones out the gunk.

Keyboard bluesPersonally, I am going to have to cut my fingernails as I am wreaking havoc on my E, D, N and M keys. S isn't looking so good either. And my keyboard is only about a year old.

Or maybe I should try to not work so hard. As it is, I type so much during my workday that I've got blisters on top of my calluses when my fingers are not simply bleeding from all of the type-type-typing that I do.

And now, in a lightbulb moment, I am thinking that the pinched nerve in my shoulder (real affliction) was caused by patting myself on the back!

Good luck with the TV exile

Good luck with the TV exile Brandon. I can imagine eating dinner alone, without television, would be difficult.

I don't watch very much TV. So maybe I can give you a few hints that will make it easier on you.

Try listening to a CD while you eat. You may find yourself grooving around your table and dropping some food on your lap, but it does break the silence.

I have also found that playing guitar or whatever insrument you may want to pick up has taken my attention away from the TV, as well as given me another artistic outlet. I like to spend my old TV time playing music or reading as well.

I can't imagine missing The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park and The Family Guy. I also enjoy watching the Twins, but if you don't have cable I guess you wouldn't feel my pain.

Good luck with the TV exile, I think you will find that a few more hours of productivity will be added to your day.

If anyone wants Brandon's

If anyone wants Brandon's number, it's online at http://www.jordannews.com/node/681. Ha ha, now the phone calls will come a-rollin' in ...

But, seriously, if you want to call Brandon, you should be encouraged to do so. Unless you're dialing the wrong number.

How did you know about the

How did you know about the stacks of newspapers all over my apartment? Anyway, I probably should give out my number more often. Then I wouldn’t be stuck sitting around on a Friday night wondering why I have nothing to do.

Speaking of phone numbers, I realized this morning that I signed up for a land line when I started internet service in my apartment, but I don’t even own a phone to connect to the line. This isn't really related to the above post at all, but I thought it was interesting.

I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea for you to give your number out just a wee bit more often. Sure it will take time away from you stacking those newspapers and magazines all over your apartment, and possibly from caring for the dozen or more cats you might eventually own. But it would be good for you, trust me on this one.

I'm sorry, your opening up like this shouldn't be an opportunity for ridicule, it's certainly your first step towards recovery.

I have heard that as well, and I've actually thought about trying the duct tape. I'm almost out of medicated bandages, and the wart is almost gone, so I might just try the duct tape method. I just don't want the tape to stick to my keyboard and leave that sticky residue that duct tape sometimes leaves.

I've read that duct tape is supposed to work wonders on warts. So if you can handle the ridicule from your co-workers about having your finger wrapped in that oh-so-attractive duct tape, you should give that a try :) Here is just one of many links to corraborate this info:

Nice references to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" -- i.e. ducks and witches. But we still might have to prove you're not a witch.
