It's a cool idea but it does seem like the democrats do have all the cool musicians on their side...Go figure! BTW, Jackson Browne is sueing John Mccain's campaign for trying to use "Running on Empty" in an ad without permission. LOL

I’ve been impressed with the Scott County Fair in my years in Jordan, too. I’d like to know from some of the longtime residents if it’s always been this fun? Maybe some of the people who have lived here longer than I have could share a few fun stories about the fair?

When the apple orchard

When the apple orchard almost got Kansas to come and play, I was pretty excited. Even did an interview with those who sang "Dust in the Wind." Who wouldn't want to see Kansas?

I've also seen Ringo Starr and his band and the Village People at the Taste of Minnesota a half-dozen years back. They were both past their primes, but who cares?

Former members of Prince's brass band tend to show up around the Twin Cities from time to time. I'd be interested in seeing them play.

I'm all for old bands continuing to tour. Next up for me: The Beach Boys.

Eric Clapton is about half

Eric Clapton is about half of a good aging rock star. Every-other CD he makes a pretty good blues disc, and then alternates it with a maudlin pop effort. If he could fuse the two and maybe bring back some of his great guitar work from the 70s (minus the cocaine, of course), he’d be the best aging rocker around. But since that probably won’t happen, I’ll say Costello is doing pretty well for himself lately. And I’d nominate Paul McCartney’s recent music as a pretty good return to form, too (he's not really a rocker, though). Nick Lowe, Costello's former producer, is fun to listen to in his old age.

Truthfully I have had

Truthfully I have had several theme songs through the years. I am sure all of you did. You hear a song and you think ahh that’s me!

When I was a kid, In my room by the Beach Boys..(There was 6 kids in the house and my room was the only place where I could get away from it all) then I went through the love them and leave them time so my theme song was “What’s love got to do with it”…then I met my x…and it became “Said I loved you but I lied” by Michael Bolton…Then he became the @!#@$$ x and he kept coming around to torment me so my them song became “I will survive” by Donna Summer…….

Sooooooooo that leaves me with now, I am not ready for “those were the days my friend” …no not yet…So right now seeing that I am into ghost hunting it’s “Casper’s theme song” for now until I find something that fits better.

Update: I’m about halfway

Update: I’m about halfway through my music collection in iTunes, and my playlist for this year’s summer cruising is currently about 260 songs long. When I get through all my music, I expect that number to jump to around 400, and then I'll whittle it down to 20 or so for a one-CD playlist.

Is it weird that I am this excited about making a playlist? Yes, but I’m OK with that.

Prince is great - i sat in

Prince is great - i sat in the front row on his Musicology tour and was blown away by what a great performance he puts on. Dylan is obviously a legend. But for this girl there's only one band that I will never grow tired of listening to, and that's The Replacements. An all around amazing band that came about at the right time in my life.

I think I’ve already got

I think I’ve already got one possibility for an addition to the list: “Getting Better” by The Beatles. What could make a day brighter than the Fab Four letting you know that things are on the way up?

A couple of other songs that have recently popped up in my mind for consideration on the summer playlist are “Lloyd, I’m ready to be Heartbroken” by Camera Obscura and “Beautiful Day” by U2. And I’m thinking I should include an Elvis Costello song and maybe on by The Jam.

I think maybe I’ll make it a double CD this year.

You can never go wrong with Eric Clapton.

One of the best songs ever - no doubt in my top five of all-time.
Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7_Ldy1XDOU

"I Feel It All" by Feist is a great theme song for me. It's extremely upbeat and makes me want to dance with my arms in the air. Plus the lyrics "I feel it all, I feel it all, my wings are wide, my wings are wide, wild card inside, wild card inside" make me think I should just live life in the moment and feel free to just be, to let go of all worries and insecurities. Here's the Feist video link, I think it shows the spirit of the song.

"You Only Live Once" by The

"You Only Live Once" by The Strokes. The lyrics are a bit abstract, but all kind of relate to the title in some way -- basically saying there are all kinds of things in this world that can leave you disillusioned, but you can choose to walk right past them and maintain your own good vibe, sort of espousing a live-and-let-live attitude. And the music is amazing -- the saucy beat and good-time attack of the band really lift you up. I don't know if there's such a thing as a skip-strut, but that's what the song makes me want to do. Check out the whimsical video.
