WOW what a hot topic this has become! I live on 282 I have no ties to St. Johns and I am very new to Jordan. I attended the meeting on Monday because I was curious to hear what people were so heated about. I am concerned about the 5,000 dollars and the 6% increase but I do understand that as a homeowner that these issues are bound to come up. The only problem I have is the way that the city council members(not all) and the city workers treated the community. I felt like they are so bent out of shape about the people asking questions and raising concerns. Do we not have the right to ask "stupid" questions without getting a in your face rude pissed off answer.
I beleive that Jordan is a beautiful town with alot of potental but people need to get over themselves this is no longer a town of 3,000 and it is only going to get bigger. I will say that it is a beautiful site to see the community and there goverment coming together and respecting each other!

The owners of property along Highway 282 will pay a total of $200,000 in assessments for an upcoming, controversial $3 million highway reconstruction project.

Tonight, Jordan Finance Director Tom Nikunen, Public Works Director Dave Bendzick, Bond Counsel Martha Ingram, and City Attorney Annette Margarit told the Jordan City Council that charging residents less than the proposed $200,000 would be illegal, and the council unanimously voted to pass the assessment roll with a few minor changes.
