After posting the above blog, I re-watched the movie, sad to say.

Until the way-too-mushy parts of this flick, the scripting in 'Runaway Bride' actually is really good, though. Take for example the newscaster who ends his broadcast with this line: "May the Lord make us all smart enough to live in a small town."
