I think we don't pray much

I think we don't pray much because we have so much. We're so rich, so fortunate, compared to other nations. Many of us don't struggle at all; we are so comfortable in our little worlds that God just isn't a priority. Sure, He may be out there ... and we'll call on Him when someone we know has cancer or is in a bad accident. But other than cases like that, we just sleepwalk through life. We spend our time thinking about what this or that celebrity is up to or what's happening on the latest reality TV show or where the next party opportunity is. Sad. What a waste.

Then there are those highly intelligent, well-educated people who have researched the "god and Christianity thing" to the nth degree and have decided that they can't accept it without proof. They aren't praying either. They have put themselves above all that.

But there are many people who do pray. Those are most likely the people who gather regularly in a community of faith - be it a church service, a cell group or Bible study. The regular scripture study and accountability that come from being in a group like that support personal prayer.

What about the personal dialogue we have with ourselves each day? Is this prayer? Each personal examination of how we've handled things ... each consideration of the right thing to do ... each desire for the best for a situation ... each feeling of exasperation or helplessness. Are these prayer? If, when you experience each of these, you invite spiritual guidance, I believe they are prayer.
