I went 23-26 on the A-Z quiz

I went 23-26 on the A-Z quiz – pretty good, I’d say. And I didn’t end up watching any of them before I went, because I thought it might make the comparisons between the old-school movies and the new one too harsh. Overall, I’d rate “Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls” somewhere around “Temple of Doom” level Indiana Jones – not as good as the first and third movies, but not awful. There were some things I’d have changed (groundhogs?!?! And monkeys!?!?!), but there were also some great scenes and wonderful nods to longtime Indy fans.

Still liked it well enough to see it again Saturday and to make my own Indy T-shirt Friday night.

So I’m caught in an

So I’m caught in an internal struggle here. I’m heading to the theater to see the midnight show tonight, and I have three options as I see it. I could watch all three “Indy” movies in the order of their release dates (“Raiders,” “Temple,” and “Crusade”), I could watch the movies in the chronological order in which they take place (“Temple,” “Raiders,” and “Crusade”), or I could not watch any of the three movies tonight for fear of being Indiana Jones-ed out before the big premier of “Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.”

Is this a ridiculous and somewhat depressing mental debate for me to be having? Yes, absolutely. But that doesn’t stop me from actually having it. Any suggestions?

I just bought my ticket to the midnight premier show! I can’t wait!

Seriously, this is the movie series that started my love of movies. I haven’t been this excited for a movie premier since the last “Lord of the Rings” movie came out several years ago. My fiancee is a little concerned over my excitement (which, at this point in the summer, is even more energetic than my excitement for our August wedding). She says every time I talk about Indy, my voice starts to go up in pitch and I start talking faster.

Are you saying that George Lucas didn't like his Star Wars series? I doubt that.

The Indy movie has a name, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." Should be seeing previews soon.

Also, one of the entertainment magazines had a story and interviews with Harrison Ford, Lucas and Spielberg on the set, with a few photos. Provided soem intersting things and piqued my interest. Can't wait to see it. It has a few movie thoughts in it, but isn't a real spoiler. If you don't want to know anything, don't read it. If you do, I suggest reading it.

One of my favorite quotes from the story went something like this from Spielberg or Lucas, "I know the critics are going to hate it. They already hate it." and they haven't seen it yet. Interesting.

I don't necessarily like movie critics, and thusly don't like movie awards shows most times. It isn't all about artistic perfection. Sometimes you just want to shut your brain off for a few hours and watch a movie that captures you. I am OK with "audience movies." I tend to lead to those types.

I’m still a fan, too, but I choose to think of the movie series as only New Hope, Empire, and Jedi. No Indy preview this weekend, though, so I’m a little bummed.

Lucas didn't mess up "Star Wars" enough for me to stop being a fan. I doubt he could mess up "Indy," since he actually likes that movie series.

It hasn’t been officially

It hasn’t been officially announced, but I’d be willing to place a small wager on the idea of an Indiana Jones preview debuting during the Super Bowl on Sunday. I hope so, because it would almost make up for the fact that the Packers aren’t playing.
