We now have about 145,000

We now have about 145,000 military and, it has been suggested, about 100,000 more 'contractors' on our dime in Iraq. I would guess that it costs about $1000/day/each for pay, substance, transportation, weapons, protection and whatever is needed to keep these brave people in the field. We have about 50 to 1 of theirs. And, Blair is indicating more will be pulled. You might think that Tony Blair would have his gang stand a bit closer to where the action is taking place. They could sure help in Baghdad. It is good to hear that things are coming under control in Iraq, it has been a long pull for our troops. It is about time and, hopefully, we will soon hear words telling our troops when they can start planing on coming home. Our plate is full, we don't need a tour of Iran.

It is important to note that

It is important to note that the British have their area in Iraq under control, and that is the reason why they are scaling back. Not because they no longer are supporting the war efforts. I think it is encouraging to see areas of Iraq that require less dependency on military support.

Brittain still is only reducing it's force by about 1000 troops. I believe 5,000 will still remain.

I don't think anyone is/was

I don't think anyone is/was recommending an 'immediate' pullout. We are told, by those in power, that would have a devastating effect on our troops and the Iraqi's depending on us. That would be demonstratively unpatriotic. Just think what an even more serious blow will fall the result of the Brits our strongest, most verbal Allie, pulling out 1500 troops just when when the going gets tough and we are adding 21500. What a different perspective on the war. Even if the Brit have their sector under control, we could have used their troops and their experience in those areas where we are 'struggling'. And we could have sent 21,500 fewer troops. Without the help of the Brits and the coalition of 'The Willing', if that is what it is coming to, we will have a difficult solo journey.

Are the Brits on the right track? Should the U.S. immediately pull out of Iraq?
