The top neighborhoods for police activity are no surprise. Downtown Jordan always takes the cake. Last month, there were 58 incidents in the area. Ten years ago, a K-9 cop and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program contributed to a 20 percent decline in crime in Jordan, according to Police Chief Bob Malz. Don’t let pedestrian crossing fall under radar, Velishek says

Jordan City Councilmember Tanya Velishek doesn’t want the proposed pedestrian crossing near the intersection of highways 169 and 282 to fall under the radar. This month, she reminded the city staff not to put the issue on the city council’s agenda soon. The city is considering five possible locations for a pedestrian bridge. In the mean time, footpaths lead to the Highway 169 surface, as well as under a highway bridge over Sand Creek.

Print Edition Southwest Newspapers’ weekly community papers have histories that go as far back as the Civil War era. Several were started from scratch as our communities began to grow in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.
