My television remote prowess was on display last night. Not only was the Minnesota Wild playoff game on TV but so were the Twins, Timberwolves, NHL playoff action and NBA action. Not to mention one of my favorites shows - Top Chef.
Because Top Chef is also one of my wife's favorite shows the Bravo channel was home base for all of the channel surfing. When Top Chef wasn't on. It was right to the Wild game. If that channel was on a commercial, quickly to the Twins game. Those were the three channels I flipped to most often.
But every once awhile the Wild would be between periods and the Twins on commercial. That meant time to check out either the T-Wolves, playoff hockey or NBA. The first check was to FSN to get a quick score of the Wolves game. Even though I am not that big of a fan of the NBA, they still are a local team and I just wanted to see the score. As the Hornets pulled away, the T-Wolves dropped in the rotation as the night went on.
After the quick score check it was onto playoff hockey. After that it was back to the Wild and/or Twins. This all had to be done before Top Chef returned.
To my credit I think I did a pretty good job of not missing a moment of Top Chef and keeping a close eye on the other games.
For years, I have driving my wife crazy with my consant flipping of channels and last night was no different. She kept saying, "Can't you keep it on one channel." or "Why do you have to flip all the time?
She just doesn't understand the need to watch everything at once. Especially on a such a big night of playoff hockey and the Twins playing division rival Chicago White Sox.
She should wait for tonight when I flip between the Masters, Twins, CSI, Lost, the Office, 30 Rock, playoff hockey and whatever else is on that I find interesting.

Better yet, let me see you...
Back to page topBetter yet, let me see you do double-remote duty from the Nordic Trac, which I had to do to watch a show on DVR while working out this morning.
For some reason, the DVR remote won't adjust volume and the TV remote can't be used to fast forward so I had dualing remotes going while not skipping a beat on the ol' ski machine.
Top that!

Back to page topI would just buy a universal remote and hope it works with the DVR, TV, and the Nordic Trac.
Better yet, I don't think I would get on the Nordic Trac. It much easier watching TV from the couch or the bed.
