Valley Natural Foods Supports V-Day Prior Lake 2008
February 4, 2008 - 5:42pm — mnvalleynow
Food Co-op Says, “NO,” to Violence Against Women The Minnesota Valley Chapter of the National Organization for Women and The Chameleon Theatre Circle are pleased to announce that Valley Natural Foods has joined V-Day Prior Lake 2008 as a VIP Sponsor. Valley Natural Foods, a food co-op in Burnsville, MN, is providing in-kind support through event notices on their website and in their publication, This Is Living Naturally. They are also a sponsor for the reception following each performance by providing beverages and cookies with the help of their vendors, including Country Choice Organic. Charli Mills, Marketing/Member Services Manager for Valley Natural Foods, says, “Valley Natural Foods has offered healthy choices since 1977. Our mission is a healthy community. We whole-heartedly support the mission of V-Day so that every woman in our area can feel empowered to make her own healthy choices and feel safe in our community.” V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities. In 2008, V-Day Prior Lake will be one of thousands of events around the world channeling their creative energy into making a difference as part of the V-Day Campaign. The event will raise money and awareness for Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women, a local organization that works to stop violence against women and girls. Performances take place at 7:30 p.m., February 14 and 16, at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake, Minnesota. V-Day Prior Lake 2008 will include a reception following each performance, vendor and exhibitor tables, anti-violence resources, and a deeply moving display with all 30 red life-sized figures from the Minnesota Silent Witness Project. The figures represent Minnesota women who were murdered in acts of domestic violence. To learn more about V-Day Prior Lake 2008, purchase tickets, or get additional information about advertising and sponsorship options, visit www.vdaypriorlake.org. $15 general admission tickets are available online or by mail, and discounted blocks of ten tickets for $100 are also available by mail. Tickets will also be sold at the door on February 14 and 16. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church is located at 3611 North Berens Road NW, Prior Lake, Minnesota.
