When the ground freezes, Rachel Contracting will begin dredging the Mill Pond.
Prior to the dredging work, the contractor will be doing shoreland work, City Engineer Carol Caron said after a recent meeting with the contractor.
The rehabilitation project was supposed to cost $833,000, but the Jordan City Council passed a change order on Monday that will spend more than one-third of the $13,000 savings the city realized when it agreed to have Rachel do the work during the winter.
Due to an oversight by the Scott Soil and Water Conservation District, clearing and grubbing around Lagoon Park's central feature will cost $7,337 that wasn't included in the original bid for the project, Caron said this week. The SWCD will cover about $2,400 of the work, she added.
The council unanimously approve the spending, as well as a payment of more than $25,000 to the contractor. More than $134,000 of the project has been paid

Back to page topI don’t know why, really, but I’m pretty excited to see the actual work of dredging the pond. There’s going to be a lot of earth moving around.
