We traded Babe Ruth

This morning, an analyst for ESPN SportsCenter predicted that the Detroit Tigers would win in the strong Central Division of Major League Baseball. Cleveland got a mention, too. He thought Boston and Anaheim will be the other American League powerhouses. The only time the Twins were mentioned was during the National League segment, while the analyst predicted the New York Mets would be the team to beat, namely because of a guy you might know. This analyst said the only comparison he could think of for the swap of Johan Santana was the trade of Babe Ruth. Whew! Hopefully, the trade doesn't have the same effect on Santana's former team as Babe Ruth's trade had on the Red Sox. I can't wait another century for a World Series championship. |

Back to page topThe Twinks should win 86 games. I don't think they'll be as bad as most of the analysts say. But they might not finish as high as second. I'll try to be realistic -- this is going to be a fun team to watch, but don't take off work for the month of October.

Monroe/Kublel - DH (depending on a lefty or righty)
Lamb - 3B
Harris - 2B

P - Hernandez (Would have been Baker if he didn't get hurt).

Back to page topI could probably roll with that lineup, except the part about Michael Cuddyer batting third. He proved himself competent, but Delmon Young is way better. I'm afraid that if Young bats No. 5, he won't have the protection he needs behind him. A Mauer-Young-Morneau-Cuddy combo would be formidable. Surely, we'll see that from time to time this year, too.
