I spent New Year's Eve watching 21 hours of movie musicals. Guys, don't laugh, I'm serious.
These are the movies: "West Side Story" from 1961, "Chicago" from 2002, "Little Shop of Horrors" from 1982 (yes, I've seen the old version, too), "Moulin Rouge" from 2001 (during which I dozed off), "The King and I" from 1956 (during which I was in bed), "Annie" from 1981 (during which I was cooking bacon for five), "Music Man" from 1962, and "Hairspray" from 2007.
I didn't make my 24-hour movie marathon goal. In fact, if you don't count the four hours of sleep I had during a couple of those movies, I only made it 17 hours. By leaving early, I missed out on "Singin' in the Rain" and "The Sound of Music."
Since this movie marathon, my first ever, I've been concocting plans for my next movie marathon. Maybe one that is shorter and more related to "Star Wars," one that is focused on Adam Sandler knee-slappers, or a marathon for which every movie is required to be one that the big-name actor in it isn't proud of being in.
Have you ever been to a movie marathon? Any suggestions on my next movie marathon?

You know, I have been...
Back to page topYou know, I have been telling myself for years that I am going to do the Star Wars straight through, but still haven't done it. Maybe one of these days when I have some free time....like the year 2050 when I am 75 years old and (hopefully) retired.
Would like also to do an Indiana Jones marathon, or a Lethal Weapon marathon, or a Rush Hour marathon, or a baseball movie marathon (Field of Dreams, Major League, Bull Durham, etc.)

I’ve done both a Star Wars...
Back to page topI’ve done both a Star Wars (original flavor) and Indiana Jones straight-through marathon, as well as a Back to the Future straight-through marathon. I’ve even done a theatrical edition Lord of the Rings straight-through marathon. I’d like to hit up all three of the deluxe editions at a time, though.
My suggestion for the next marathon would be to link it to a certain director or producer. Like maybe Alfred Hitchcock or Martin Scorsese or the Coen brothers.
Or, heck, just do an actor or actress – but go with someone who always plays a small or bit part and who isn’t the star. How about a Clint Howard or John Turturro marathon?
