Jordan proposes changes to fees

In most cities, fees increase every year. Here are some of the city services that are proposed to be more expensive next year: - residential reroofs, $80 (up from $50) per application; - residential residing, $80 (up from $50) per application; - city budget, $50 (up from $25) per copy; - annual financial statements, $25 (up from $10) per copy; - city maps if mailed, $4 (up from $3) per copy; - reserve police officers, $20 (up from $12.50) per hour; - water connection, $2,111 (up from $1,408) per connection; - water area capital for a single-family home, $1,096 (up from $730) per unit; - water area capital for a condo or apartment, $893 (up from $595) per unit; - water area capital for a commercial building or institution, $2,436 (up from $1,624) per unit; - water area capital for a multi-unit commercial building or institution, $1,096 (up from $730) per unit; - sewer connection, $2,760 (up from $2,706) per connection; - sewer area capital for a single-family home, $1,657 (up from $1,624) per unit; - sewer area capital for a condo or apartment, $1,048 (up from $1,028) per unit; - sewer area capital for a commercial building or institution, $2,098 (up from $2,057) per unit; - sewer area capital for a multi-unit commercial building or institution, $1,491 (up from $1,462) per unit; - stormwater management area/capital for single-family residential, $4,484 (up from $4,271) per acre; - stormwater management area/capital for medium- and high-density residential, $7,400 (up from $7,048) per acre; - stormwater management area/capital for commercial and industrial, $8,701 (up from $8,287) per acre; - water meter/radio reader, $290 (up from $285) per unit or connection; - water availability, $8.93 (up from $8.12) monthly; - water usage, $3.57 (up from $3.25) per 1,000 gallons; - sewer availability, $10.48 (up from $10.28) monthly; - sewer usage, $3.31 (up from $3.25) per 1,000 gallons; - stormsewer availability for a single-family unit, $3.15 (up from $3.09) monthly per unit; - stormsewer availability for all other land uses, $6.46 (up from $6.34) monthly per acre; - street maintenance equipment for residential properties, $387.85 (up from $371.42) per residential lot; - street maintenance equipment for nonresidential properties, $6.31 (up from $6.01) per front foot; - street lighting for residential properties, $1.59 (up from $1.56) monthly per lot; - street lighting for commercial and industrial properties, $3.71 (up from $3.64) monthly per lot; - liquor license (see http://www.jordannews.com/node/5405); - liquor license investigation, $500 (up from $100) annually; - commercial hauler, $150 (up from $100) annually; - tax abatement, $2,500 (up from $3,000) per application; - principal engineer/surveyor, $120 to $185 (up from $120 to $180) per hour; - project/design engineer, $58 to $135 (up from $55 to $130) per hour; - licensed surveyor, $75 to $130 (up from $70 to $130) per hour; - and project surveyor, $50 to $95 (up from $50 to $90) per hour. Here are the new fees the city proposes to charge in 2008: - massage license, $200 annually; - massage license investigation, $100 annually; - tattoo parlor license, $200 annually; - tattoo parlor license investigation, $100 annually; - fence with easement, $100 per application; - and economic development authority subscription service, $50 annually. The only fee that dropped in price was for use of the city's global positioning system or robotic survey equipment, for which there will be no charge (down from $45 to $60 per hour). |
