A friend of mine told me the other day that the baseball season starts in three weeks, when pitchers and catchers start throwing.

For a second, I thought he was crazy. "They started this week!" I said.

"The Hubmen?" he clarified.

I was thinking of the Minnesota Twins -- that's no big surprise. Ask my darling wife.

My wife calls it an obsession. I prefer to call my condition "a one-track mind." She's the psychologist, and I'm always thinking about Twins baseball. So who's right?

The truth is this: Whether we're thinking of the Jordan Brewers, the Jordan Hubmen, the Minnesota Twins, or whoever, baseball gets us through the winter. Right about now each year, my love affair with the sport of baseball begins anew. I'm not kidding.
