In a few minutes, I'll be heading out for the Sand Creek Township annual meeting. It's an important event for Jordan area local government. I'll let you know a little about what happened tonight, after I get back to the office.
I know that I'll have election results, although the outcome is probably obvious. Town Treasurer Chad Sandey and Board Member Bill Heimkes are running unopposed and -- barring any runs by write-in candidates -- will be back on the board.
Sand Creek Township is also considering a ballot initiative that would move its elections to November. Board members are saying they support the measure as a way to save money. However, they do not know if residents will support the switch. We'll see ...
But other issues can come up at town hall meetings, too. Hopefully, I can help facilitate a bit of an online discussion about what residents talk about during the meeting.
Staff Writer Brandon Otte will be covering the St. Lawrence Township annual meeting, so he'll provide some insight from there, where Board Member Hubert Jeurissen and Town Treasurer Rae Ann Bohlman are running unopposed in their respective races.
I'd love to hear from residents who attended meetings in Helena and Spring Lake townships, neither of which have elections before November and both of which have annual meetings tonight.
