The bullpens for the Minnesota Twins and their opponents have been getting a lot of work lately -- and it's not necessarily on the mound.
Twins reliever Juan Rincon's overthrow of third base last night was the third time in the last two days that a pitcher has chucked a baseball into a bullpen at the Metrodome. Bullpens have been ducking, jumping, and diving like their in a bad rendition of "Dodgeball" the movie. ("If you can dodge a wrench, then you can dodge a ball.")
On Sunday, I had the privilege of seeing two overthrows of first base. Detroit Tigers relievers spread like wildfire when those balls came whizzing their way. Ha!
It's not funny when it costs us a few bases, though. I'm just laughing because it's so lame.
C'mon guys, you're professionals. You shouldn't be overthrowing, and if you do, there should be an outfielder to back up the play.
