Jordan is busy with many events during the summertime, and they all have their upsides.
For me, born and raised a city kid, one of the best events is the Scott County Fair.
I came here in November 2004. During my past four years working in Jordan, I've attended three county fairs, and this month, I will be attending my fourth. Prior to my time in Jordan, I had never experienced such an enthusiastic fair crowd. I'd been to the Ramsey and Washington county fairs, but the crowds are so much more suburban. A mostly rural crowd seems much more interested in agriculture, the demolition derbies, the Motocross races, the tractor pull, even the battle of the bands.
Each year, I'm easily impressed. The great, old standbys are there every year, but there's always something new.
Trying to do something new, staying a little longer at a part of an event that I've never experienced, and photographing people from all across the county are some of things I really enjoy about my job. The county fair fulfills all of those interests.

Back to page topI’ve been impressed with the Scott County Fair in my years in Jordan, too. I’d like to know from some of the longtime residents if it’s always been this fun? Maybe some of the people who have lived here longer than I have could share a few fun stories about the fair?
