The Scott County Board met Tuesday, Jan. 8. Here's what they did, according to a press release from the administrator's office:
- The commissioners received a federal issues update from U.S. Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., who discussed concerns that ranged from the earmarking process to the larger economy.
- Carrying on a long tradition, Commissioner Barbara Marschall, as 2007 county board chairwoman, presented the annual Year in Review presentation, which was organized by the board's five strategic initiatives.
- By unanimous vote of the board, Commissioner Bob Vogel of Elko New Market was elected chairman of the Scott County Board for 2008, with Commissioner Jon Ulrich of Savage elected to the role of vice chairman.
- By unanimous action, the Scott County Commissioners' 2008 committee appointments were approved. This information may be accessed on the county's Web site at www.co.scott.mn.us under Your County Government/County Board/Commissioner Committee Appointments.
- The board approved the appointments of citizens to the following advisory committees: Lillian Farrar of Commissioner District 1, emergency medical services advisory council (term effective Jan. 8, 2008, to Dec. 31, 2010); Mary Pulk of Commissioner District 3, human services resource council (term effective Jan. 8, 2008, to Dec. 31, 2009); and Kathy Jacobson of Commissioner District 4, New Options advisory committee (term effective Jan. 8, 2008, to Dec. 31, 2009).
- The upcoming board schedule includes: no meeting on Jan. 15; a county board meeting on Jan. 22; a county board workshop on Jan. 29; and a county board meeting on Feb. 5.
