Part of a press release from the office of U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman:
WASHINGTON--In an effort to provide continued support and resources for victims of torture, U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., this week introduced the Torture Victims Relief Reauthorization Act, which will allocate $98 million over two years to both domestic and foreign programs that treat victims of torture. The funding allocated for domestic projects will help programs such as the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT), which is based in Minneapolis. U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, DFL-Minn., is a co-sponsor of the legislation.
"This legislation will help ensure that thousands of torture victims will continue to receive the help and support they need to recover from the devastating effects of these unthinkable acts of violence," said Coleman.
