Scott and Carver counties received a grant for $60,000 from the state of Minnesota's Safe and Sober Communities program to enforce driving while intoxicated and traffic laws.
The Jordan City Council approved the grant agreement tonight.
Local police receive overtime pay for being part of the program, which provides extra patrols at various times. Jordan is in partnership with several other cities in the area.
"We apply as one entity," Police Chief Bob Malz said.
Scott County was one of the state's 13 deadliest counties last year.
"We've fallen off that list," Malz said. "I think we're like 17th."
