Over the week of October 22-26, the National Honor Society chapter at JHS held a penny wars fundraiser-competition between the grades at the high school. All of the funds raised were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder that causes the body to produce an excess amount of mucus. The mucus present in the lungs creates an increased risk of contracting repiratory diseases. Also, it can block enzymes from the pancreas to the stomach, hindering digestion. NHS raised $287.87 to send to CFF. The seniors won the war and were rewarded last Friday, November 2nd with a pizza party during lunch.
