Day 1

I have been invited down to the Holt House in Granite Falls to top off their annual “Victorian Christmas in July” with ghost hunting classes and field trip. The Victorians were very interested in the supernatural and Mary Gillespie, the present owner of the house felt it would be very fitting with the theme. The Holt house is an octagon shaped house that was built in 1884 and is just one of the few remaining buildings of this type left in the United States. In it’s 125 year history, the house and land has not really exchanged hands that often. And when it did, the house was kept more or less in the family. Mary did ask that after the class if we could also check out her house for spiritual activity. She said that one day after she had came home she did see a shadow of a woman in a long dress gliding by a far wall. Other people who had stayed the night there had complained of “unusual” occurrences happing at night.

Three other members of the team also accompanied me to our weekend outing. Kathy, Jack and Cliff. They helped me demonstrate our equipment and explain what each one dose. The class had about 12 people in it. We showed various photos, and evps that have been collected throughout the years. I also demonstrated how to set up your equipment to capture evps. I also advised them about the dangers of a high EMF field and how to have it taken care of if they had that problem in their home. This interested one of the ladies very much. She had a problem with high emf in her home and she explained the health problems that she experienced. I did mention to them that I would be willing to come to their home to see if they were having this problem, however, I will not recommend any electrician, this would have to be up to the owners of the home to find one.

After the classes we while we waited until nightfall, the group took this opportunity to check the Holt house for spiritual activity. On the second, you first enter a sitting room, from this room, four bedrooms a bathroom and a stairway leading up to the attic. As we explorer each of the rooms we paired off in 2’s. Jack and Kathy explored one bedroom and I another. Cliff, who was near me, opened the door leading to the attic. As he did this, his camera died, and mine died a few seconds after. We thought this was a very strange occurrence. We decided to check out the attic area. Jack took the lead followed by Kathy the Cliff took up the rear. As Jack reached the top of the stairs, Cliff felt a brush of a ball of cold air against his back then Kathy felt this against her arm and shoulder. What ever came down from the attic when Cliff opened the door rushed back up the stairs as the group proceeded up the attic. When we finished the rooms and the attic, we sat in the sitting room to see if we could pick up any impressions. Jack had the thermo camera and was scanning the room. Kathy was next to him. Cliff wondered around from time to time to see if he could pick up anything. I sat opposite of Jack and Kathy. As I looked around the room, which was in the dark, I noticed a light shooting across the bedroom to my left. “What’s there in that room?” I asked. I wasn’t sure if there was a window in my line of vision. What I saw could have been a car passing by the house. Cliff turned on the light and there was a dresser with a mirror facing the doorway. It couldn’t have been a light from a car. Soon after I suddenly felt 2 strong taps on my foot. We stayed a little while longer and we then proceeded to the city cemetery where the students had a chance to try some of the equipment we had.

We did pick up some interesting evp’s at the Holt house.

We had picked up other evps from that house but they were hard to clean up.

We slept over night at the Holt house. We were very comfortable and our hostess Mary made us feel very welcomed. In the morning, after coffee and breakfast, we were ready to continue our adventure in Granite Falls
