Jordan Library this Week – Winter Escape Plans!

» Read similar stories filed under:

Winter seems to have been here forever. Like the Groundhog, I need to crawl out of my burrow and explore the outside world a bit this time of year. If you’re feeling this way too, perhaps the library can help you.

Drop in for storytime at the library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. This week it’s Groundhog Day –tales and activities about Minnesota Animals . Maybe you’ll even see your shadow!

On Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10:30 a.m. the new Fiction Book Group will be discussing Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich. Stop in if you have enjoyed any of the hilarious Stephanie Plum books. This new book group is open to all adults and meets one Saturday per month at the Jordan Library. Juice and rolls will be provided.

Need to get out of town? The Museum Adventure Pass program is available to library customers any day of the week. Bring in your library card and check out a free admission pass for two to one of 18 Twin Cities museums and venues included in this program. You have up to one week to make your museum visit (so you can plan ahead) and nothing needs to be returned to the library.
We recently used a Museum Pass to spend an afternoon at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. We escaped a cold Minnesota day in the luxurious surroundings, while learning a bit more about Minnesota’s Swedish heritage.

Have you used the Museum Pass program? You can share comments on this blog about adventures you have enjoyed! For more information about museum passes, visit www.melsa.org/MuseumAdventurePass

Need an escape without leaving the house? Learn how to download free audiobooks to your computer, mp3 player or Ipod through the library’s website. Netlibrary audiobooks are available to library customers. Contact the library to set up an account that enables you to download from your home computer.

Of course, any library audiobooks you listen to will also qualify for the Winter Jackets reading program. You may win locally donated prizes just for listening!
Contact the Jordan Library at 952-492-2500 or visit our website at www.scott.lib.mn.us for more information on any of the above Winter Escape Plans.
